Half-Time Report: All square between Aston Villa, Liverpool in FA Cup semi-final clash

Christian Benteke pulls Aston Villa level at the break of their FA Cup semi-final against Liverpool after Philippe Coutinho had put the Merseysiders ahead.

It is 1-1 at half time of the FA Cup semi-final between Aston Villa and Liverpool after Christian Benteke cancelled out Philippe Coutinho's opener at Wembley.

The Merseysiders pressed forward as Coutinho got the better of Leandro Bacuna and cut the ball back to Joe Allen on the edge of the box, but the Welshman scuffed his shot wide of the target.

Tim Sherwood's side threatened when Charles N'Zogbia was allowed to shoot from distance, but his strike was well tipped over the bar by Simon Mignolet.

Liverpool took the lead as Villa failed to clear the danger on the edge of their own box, with Jores Okore and Fabian Delph the guilty parties. Raheem Sterling slid a pass into the feet of Coutinho, who beat a couple of challenges before burying the ball into the back of the net with the aid of a deflection.

Villa's response was immediate as they drew level in the 36th minute. Delph atoned for his error with a mazy run down the left before exchanging a neat one-two with Jack Grealish to get into the area and cut the ball back into the middle for Benteke to fire past Mignolet.
