Steven Gerrard's 10 Merseyside derby goals

Sports Mole looks back on the 10 goals that Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard has scored in Merseyside derbies.

When Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard curled Liverpool into a 1-0 lead against rivals Everton yesterday afternoon, it was the 10th time that the midfielder had found the net in Merseyside derbies.

Only Ian Rush, Dixie Dean and Alex Young have scored more times in that particular fixture than the 34-year-old, who went into the clash with many people questioning whether or not he should still be a part of the Liverpool starting lineup.

Here, Sports Mole has looked back on all 10 of Gerrard's goals against the blue half of Merseyside.

September 15, 2001 (Everton 1-3 Liverpool)
Trailing 1-0 to an early strike from Kevin Campbell, Gerrard drew Liverpool level in the 12th minute. Having collected a poor clearance from Gary Naysmith, he then beat the Scottish defender before lashing a powerful effort into the far corner of Paul Gerrard's net.

March 20, 2005 (Liverpool 2-1 Everton)
It seemed that Everton goalkeeper Nigel Martyn was expecting a powerful strike from Gerrard, but when Dietmar Hamann rolled the ball into the path of his skipper, he went for placement, which beat the veteran stopper. It was the first goal in a 2-1 victory for the Reds.

December 28, 2005 (Everton 1-3 Liverpool)
After Peter Crouch had put Liverpool in front at Goodison Park, Gerrard doubled their advantage. Tim Cahill's clearance only found the midfielder 25 yards from goal and he fired back into the home side's net via a deflection off Joseph Yobo. The match ended 3-1, which extended Liverpool's winning Premier League run to nine matches.

January 19, 2009 (Liverpool 1-1 Everton)
Looking to secure a victory that would send them to the top of the table at the expense of Manchester United, Gerrard broke the deadlock midway through the second half. Phil Neville did his best to close down Gerrard, but his low drive from 25 yards out beat Tim Howard.

January 25, 2009 (Liverpool 1-1 Everton)
Hosting Liverpool found themselves 1-0 down in this FA Cup tie as Joleon Lescott put Everton in front, but Gerrard secured his side a replay when his effort was allowed to squirm into the net by Everton keeper Howard.

March 13, 2012 (Liverpool 3-0 Everton)
This particular evening was one of Gerrard's finest in a Liverpool shirt. His first of the encounter came courtesy of a clever lobbed effort, before he then fired into the roof of the net from close range after good work from Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan was again the provider as Gerrard completed his hat-trick with a neat finish in the 90th minute of what was his 400th Premier League appearance.

March 28, 2014 (Liverpool 4-0 Everton)
Suarez was again in generous mood as he assisted Gerrard, who opened the scoring. It was Suarez's corner towards the near post which he was first to meet and from there he was able to guide a header beyond Howard and Ross Barkley on the line.

September 27, 2014 (Liverpool 1-1 Everton)
After Mario Balotelli had spurned an earlier set-piece, the Italian stepped aside for his captain. His curling effort beat the wall and despite the fact that Howard got a decent palm on the ball, he couldn't keep it out.
