Half-Time Report: Liverpool in control at Anfield

Liverpool lead Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 at the interval of their Premier League fixture at Anfield.

Liverpool lead Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 at the interval of their Premier League encounter at Anfield.

The home side went ahead inside two minutes when Younes Kaboul turned a low Glen Johnson cross into his own net from close range.

Spurs continued to wobble as Luis Suarez advanced into the box four minutes later, but Kaboul managed to make a last-ditch challenge.

Suarez turned provider for Daniel Sturridge after 10 minutes, but the England international could not meet a cross from the Premier League's leading scorer.

The home side had another half-chance after 16 minutes when Philippe Coutinho met a high ball on the edge of the box, but his effort was always moving wide of the post.

Liverpool had their second after 25 minutes, however, when Suarez capitalised on a mistake from Kaboul before driving into the box and finishing into the bottom corner.

Christian Eriksen threatened for Spurs moments later, but his powerful effort was blocked inside the box.

Roberto Soldado, meanwhile, brought a smart stop from Simon Mignolet after 40 minutes in Spurs' best chance of the half.

Suarez had a golden opportunity to register his second two minutes later, but somehow Hugo Lloris kept the forward's header out from close range following another poor piece of defending from the away side.
