Liverpool striker Danny Ings could return before end of season

Liverpool striker Danny Ings is reportedly ahead of schedule in his recovery from an ACL injury and could return before the end of the season.

Liverpool striker Danny Ings could reportedly return to action before the end of the season after stepping up his recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The 23-year-old was expected to miss the entire campaign after suffering the injury in training six months ago.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Ings is ahead of schedule in his recovery and there is a chance that he could get back onto the pitch before the season is out.

When asked about the status of Ings's recovery, Klopp told reporters: "Danny's in a really good way after a serious injury but he's not back in team training yet.

"Maybe two weeks, I'm not too sure, it was four or five days ago when someone sent me the email saying it was two weeks until he could train with the team.

"I don't know yet if he will be able to play again this season. That all depends on how he recovers and how he's training. He's been out for a long time."

Ings signed for Liverpool from Burnley last June.
