Jon Flanagan 'out for six to nine months'

Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan is reportedly ruled out for six to nine months following further knee surgery.

Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan has reportedly been ruled out for between six to nine months after undergoing further knee surgery.

The 22-year-old full-back initially suffered the injury during the club's pre-season tour of America last year.

Flanagan, who has not made a single appearance for the Reds this term, is now set to have his third operation on the knee.

The England international made 23 Premier League appearances throughout last season as Liverpool finished just two points short of winning the title.

According to The Times, Flanagan will be out for at least six to nine months as he bids to make a full recovery.

Flanagan won his one cap for England weeks before picking up the injury.
