Daniel Agger: 'Liverpool can compete next season'

Daniel Agger says that Liverpool can compete with the top teams next season.

Liverpool defender Daniel Agger has insisted that his side can compete at the top of the Premier League next season.

The Reds have endured a disappointing domestic campaign and could finish as low as 10th in the table despite winning the Carling Cup and making the FA Cup final.

Agger admits that he feels 'haunted' by the FA Cup final defeat but believes that the signs are there for Liverpool to move forward.

"Can we challenge the top teams next season? Yes, of course," said Agger.

"We have moved forward a lot this season but right now the only feelings are of disappointment.

"We have got two games left in the season and we have got to try and win them. That is how we will start to move forward."

Liverpool meet Chelsea on Tuesday night in their penultimate game of the season.
