Liverpool legend John Aldridge has called on manager Brendan Rodgers to try to convince Jamie Carragher to postpone his retirement.
The long-serving Reds defender recently decided to call time on a decorated career at Anfield, and Aldridge thinks that Rodgers should persuade the centre-back to play on.
"If I was Brendan Rodgers I'd be doing everything I possibly could to convince Jamie Carragher to play on for another year," Aldridge said in his Liverpool Echo column.
"If Carra does retire then the manager might have to buy three centre-backs as there are big question marks over the futures of Martin Skrtel and Sebastian Coates.
"I don't know if he is already committed to TV duties, but you are a long time retired."
Carragher is second in the all-time appearance list for the Reds, having represented them 728 times.
