Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre insists that he will not leave the club following the sacking of manager Kenny Dalglish.

Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre has said that he will not be leaving the club following the sacking of manager Kenny Dalglish.

The Scot was dismissed on Wednesday afternoon by owners Fenway Sports Group after 16 months in charge at Anfield.

When asked whether he was also on his way out, Ayre told Sky Sports News: "Absolutely not, no question of that from my point of view, and no indication of that from anyone upstairs."

Dalglish had previously quit the club in 1991 after six years in charge of the team.
