Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has said that he does not believe Jurgen Klopp will bring in another midfielder if he misses out on signing Naby Keita this summer.
The Reds have seen bids of £57m and £66m rejected by RB Leipzig already this window, and they are now understood to have cooled their interest after being told that Keita is not for sale at any price.
However, Keita does have a £48m release clause in his contract which will be activated next summer, and Carragher believes that Klopp will be happy to wait until then for the Guinea international.
"Regarding Keita, I don't think that Klopp will go out and buy another midfielder. think he would be willing to wait until next season as supposedly Keita has a buyout clause," he told 5times.co.uk.
"Nevertheless, if we go into the new season with what we've got now, I think there will be a lot of trepidation amongst the Liverpool fans.
"I'm sure the club are working 24/7 behind the scenes to bring players in, not only to keep the supporters happy, but to strengthen the squad for the big season ahead."
Liverpool have so far brought in Dominic Solanke, Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson this summer.
