Stan Collymore fears for Adam Lallana, Christian Benteke under Jurgen Klopp

Adam Lallana and Christian Benteke will struggle under Jurgen Klopp's management at Liverpool, according to Stan Collymore.

Former Liverpool centre-forward Stan Collymore has claimed that Adam Lallana and Christian Benteke could both struggle to fit into the playing style of new manager Jurgen Klopp.

During his stint in charge of Borussia Dortmund, which yielded a return of two Bundesliga titles and an appearance in the 2013 Champions League final, Klopp's side were widely lauded for the way in which they pressurized their opponents high up the pitch.

With that particular attribute in mind, Collymore has conceded that Lallana and Benteke, who cost £25m and £32.5m respectively, may find themselves surplus to requirements at Anfield.

"At Villa, and so far at Liverpool, [Benteke] seemingly goes through the motions for much of the game before doing something magical, which keeps him in the team," Collymore wrote in his Boyle Sports column.

"He's not a natural grafter so it will be interesting to see whether Klopp makes allowances for the lack of workrate or eventually, when LFC get into a European top four position, gets rid.

"Lallana is another player who for me doesn't fit the profile. Not because he's not willing to work hard - he most certainly is - but he's not the kind of attacking midfielder who will be quick enough to implement high intensity pressing into his game. He's languid and not the quickest, and perhaps at 27 that part of his game isn't going to come easily, so I suggest he may be someone else on the move in the next few windows."

Klopp, who was appointed last Thursday, took charge of his first training session at Liverpool's Melwood base earlier today.
