Liverpool striker Danny Ings has insisted that he was well aware coming to Anfield that he would need to fight for a first-team spot.
The 23-year-old moved to Merseyside from Burnley on a free transfer during the summer window.
Ings is yet to be handed a start by manager Brendan Rodgers, but hopes to build on his cameo performance from last weekend's 3-0 defeat to West Ham United.
"I come in every day and work hard," Ings told the club's official website. "There's a lot of quality players here who have been brought in for big money, as everyone is aware of.
"I made a huge step coming in from Burnley with all due respect, to Liverpool so for me I knew I had to be a lot more patient than the other strikers that we've got here.
"I'm working hard every day to improve so that when I do get my chances I can take them with both hands and enjoy the moment."
Christian Benteke currently stands in Ings's way, while Daniel Sturridge is due to return to action within the next few months.
