Stewart Downing believes that Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge can form a deadly partnership for Liverpool.

Liverpool winger Stewart Downing believes that the combined force of strikers Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez can pose a real threat to their opponents.

The former Chelsea forward, who is expected to be fit for this Sunday's clash against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield, has made an impressive start to his Liverpool career alongside Suarez, who has netted 28 goals so far this season.

"I think Daniel has been a good signing for us and although we missed him against Wigan, in the games he has played he gives us something different," BBC Sport quotes Downing as saying.

"The way they play, [Sturridge] is on the shoulder with Luis coming off, they are a nightmare for defenders. If we can get a good partnership with them going then we have a chance."

The Reds are currently 10 points away from fourth place in the league table.
