Nottingham Forest will be looking to extend a Premier League streak against Liverpool when they square off at the City Ground on Saturday afternoon.

Nottingham Forest will be hoping to extend a Premier League streak against Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.

Having made their long-awaited return to the top flight courtesy of winning the Championship playoffs, Forest had been expected to make a positive impact in 2022-23.

However, Steve Cooper's side currently sit in 19th position in the Premier League standings having accumulated just six points from 11 matches.

The East Midlands outfit are currently on a nine-match winless streak since they defeated West Ham United on the second weekend of the season.

In total, Forest have only collected four points from their five games at the City Ground, their other point coming against Aston Villa earlier this month.

Nevertheless, when Cooper's side play host to the Merseyside giants this weekend, they will be attempting to prolong a long-standing run against their upcoming opponents.

Forest have never suffered a home defeat against Liverpool in the Premier League, a record spanning five encounters between August 1992 and April 1999.

During that time, Forest have recorded two wins and three draws, the first encounter being particularly notable for being the first Premier League game televised by Sky Sports.

Forest have been required to come from behind to draw the last two league fixtures with Liverpool on home territory, a 90th-minute equaliser from Pierre van Hooijdonk securing a 2-2 draw in 1999.

After a 23-year-old wait, this fixture did take place in the FA Cup last season, Liverpool prevailing 1-0 thanks to a late Diogo Jota goal.

However, Jurgen Klopp's side are still looking for their first away win in the Premier League this campaign, their current record reading two draws and two defeats.
