Steven Gerrard: "More chapters to write in England career"

Steven Gerrard feels that there is more to come from his England career ahead of earning his 100th Three Lions cap against Sweden.

Steven Gerrard has insisted that winning his 100th England cap does not mean that his Three Lions career is nearing an end.

The Liverpool midfielder will reach a century of international appearances when he leads out Roy Hodgson's men against Sweden in Stockholm on Wednesday.

Gerrard has revealed that he is "excited" about the landmark occasion, but is confident that he can go on to achieve more while representing his country, targeting qualification for the 2014 World Cup as the next milestone.

"I'm excited. I'm slightly nervous, which I haven't been for quite a while in an England shirt, maybe because there is a bit more attention on me getting to the milestone," he said.

"It's very exciting and I can't wait for the game to start. My England journey has been full of ups and downs, probably the same as a lot of other England players, but I feel like there's a few more chapters to write as well.

"I don't feel as if I am coming to the end. I'm really happy where I am at the moment and really happy with my form in an England shirt. I'm certainly looking forward to helping this team qualify for the World Cup."

Gerrard will become the sixth Englishman to reach the 100-cap landmark after Billy Wright, Bobby Moore, Bobby Charlton, Peter Shilton and David Beckham.
