Steven Gerrard: 'We have to keep the pressure on'

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard insists that his side have to keep winning games if they are to put pressure on Manchester United in the race for fourth place.

Steven Gerrard has urged Liverpool to remain focused and seize the initiative in order to steal a place in the top four should the opportunity arise.

The Reds pulled within four points of Manchester United in the final Champions League spot as they beat Queens Park Rangers 2-1 at Anfield, while the Red Devils slumped to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of West Bromwich Albion.

Gerrard believes that his side have to win all their remaining games to keep the chance of finishing in the top four alive and hope for further mistakes from their rivals.

"I'm sure the manager's already got one eye on next season, but these games are still important," Gerrard told the club's official website.

"You represent Liverpool Football Club, so you want to win them all and we want to keep pressure on the teams above. If they do slip up in a couple of games, we've got to be ready to pounce."

Liverpool are next in action against Chelsea on Sunday at Stamford Bridge.
