Former Liverpool goalkeeper Bruce Grobelaar has admitted that he was surprised at the sale of Dirk Kuyt to Fenerbahce.
It was announced on Sunday that the Dutchman had signed a three-year deal at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium after six years playing for the Reds.
The £1m transfer is Brendan Rodgers's first piece of business since being appointed at Anfield, but Grobelaar believes that Kuyt's industry on the field will be sorely missed.
"I'm very surprised," Grobelaar told talkSPORT. "I was thinking that Brendan Rodgers might have kept Dirk Kuyt because he is an absolute workhorse. He works his socks off for every team he has played for.
"He's looking at greener pastures. He's looking to take his game to further afield and we wish him all the best."
Kuyt won his only medal with Liverpool in the Carling Cup last year.
