Roy Keane has praised Liverpool for playing like Premier League champions during their 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Harry Kane produced an excellent finish after just 48 seconds at Anfield ahead of a first half that saw Spurs frustrate the hosts with some resolute defending.
However, the Reds continued to press hard and received their reward through goals from Jordan Henderson and Mohamed Salah to give Jurgen Klopp's men all three points.
Speaking on Sky Sports News after the game, Keane said: "That's what you are doing every week. Man City have put Liverpool under pressure today by getting a good result.
"Liverpool have responded and that is the name of the game. They have to keep going. They will be disappointed to have conceded but they have recovered well.
"You have to keep going. No one is going to hand you the championship. You have to earn the right, week in and week out. Whether you play well or not."
The result ensures that Liverpool remain six points ahead of champions Manchester City, who had beaten Aston Villa 3-0 the day before.
Liverpool have now won 18 of their last 19 Premier League games, with a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford earlier this month serving as the only time that the Merseyside team came up short.
