Jurgen Klopp "really pleased" with Liverpool youngsters following stalemate

Jurgen Klopp says that he is "really pleased" with the performance of his young players in today's 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has claimed that he is "really pleased" with the performance of his young players in this afternoon's final game of the Premier League season against West Bromwich Albion.

Salomon Rondon opened the scoring within the first quarter of an hour at The Hawthorns, but Jordon Ibe found an equaliser to take a share of the points.

The result means that the Merseyside outfit have finished eighth in the table, and their only hope of playing European football next season is if they win next week's Europa League, which would automatically put them in the Champions League.

Klopp made 11 changes to his team, involving numerous youngsters, including Brad Smith, Cameron Brannagan, Kevin Stewart and Sheyi Ojo.

"I'm really pleased with the performance because it was quite difficult with this young squad coming here knowing that [West Brom] are set-piece specialists, but the longer you keep the ball, the less time they have to have set pieces," Klopp told LFCTV.

"We lost patience, which is normal with these young boys. West Brom had a few moments, they scored a goal, we strike back, and everything's okay."

Liverpool will face Sevilla in Basel for the Europa showpiece next Wednesday.
