Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp: 'Daniel Sturridge, Christian Benteke can play together'

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is confident that Daniel Sturridge and Christian Benteke can play together up front.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that he is confident Daniel Sturridge and Christian Benteke can form a strike partnership.

The German coach, who was appointed the club's new boss a fortnight ago, has not been able to pair the two together due to injuries.

Benteke returned to action as a substitute in last night's Europa League action, while Sturridge has missed the last two games with a knock.

"All good players can play together," Klopp told reporters in this afternoon's press conference. "It depends how they work for the team. We cannot play with two or three offensive players if they stay up front and we defend with only seven.

"When they are fit, that's when I really have to think about this, but for sure they can play together. We have to think about how we can do the rest of the team."

Klopp is yet to make a decision about Sturridge's availability for Sunday's Premier League match against Southampton at Anfield.
