Adam Lallana has been sent off while playing for Liverpool Under-23s because of an angry reaction to a challenge.
The midfielder has been on the sidelines for the majority of the season due to injury, making just seven appearances in all competitions for the first team.
This evening, the England international marked his return from a setback by featuring for the development side, but was given his marching orders just after the hour mark.
The referee brandished a straight red card after Lallana grabbed the throat of Tottenham Hotspur Under-23s' George Marsh following an aerial challenge.
The 29-year-old has not played a full 90 minutes for manager Jurgen Klopp yet this season, and has started just one Premier League match.
