England striker Rickie Lambert has vowed to improve his game and work harder to get to the "next level" after making his dream move to Liverpool.
The 32-year-old forward, who trained with Liverpool as a youngster, completed the move to Anfield from Southampton on Monday before re-joining the England squad ahead of the World Cup.
Lambert admitted that he never thought he would get another chance to play for his boyhood club and has now expressed his desire to make the most of the move.
"I am more than confident that I will take the chance and I will be able to improve my game again. I've done that every season," Lambert said told Liverpool's official website.
"I'm going to get fitter. I'm going to do everything I can to get onto the next level now. Even though I'm 32, I feel like a kid again."
Lambert spent five years with the Saints, scoring 117 goals in 235 appearances as he gained promotion to the Premier League with the club.
