Paul Lambert: 'Jurgen Klopp will galvanise Liverpool'

Ex-Borussia Dortmund midfielder Paul Lambert says that Jurgen Klopp will make the Liverpool players work hard on the pitch in order to be successful.

Former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Paul Lambert has claimed that Jurgen Klopp will expect the Liverpool players to work hard on the pitch to get results.

The ex-Dortmund boss is widely expected to be appointed as the Reds' next manager, with reports suggesting that he could be confirmed in the post within the next 48 hours.

Lambert, who took his coaching licence alongside Klopp in Cologne over a decade ago, is confident that Klopp will revive Liverpool's fortunes.

"If you look back at his successful period at Dortmund a lot of it was a based on the amount of miles players cover on the pitch. Nobody could out-run them," Lambert told talkSPORT. "I think he will demand the same at Liverpool. He will get players to do what he wants to do, and that means covering the ground.

"He will bring back the feel-good factor. He will get that enthusiasm he generates through to the crowd and that will bounce from the stadium onto the pitch. And that will make the players feel better about themselves and feel they can run that extra yard.

"Liverpool and Dortmund are similar types of clubs with the fan bases they've got. Going to Liverpool won't phase him because he's done it in front of 80,000 every week and he knows the history behind Liverpool. He will know exactly what he's going to walk into."

Klopp won two Bundesliga titles, two German Cups and two German Super Cups during his eight-year spell in charge of Dortmund.
