Naby Keita will become the first player since Steven Gerrard to wear the number eight shirt at Liverpool, according to a report.
The 23-year-old has spent the past couple of days on Merseyside preparing for life at his new club following a £53m switch from RB Leipzig.
While confirmation of the Guinea international's shirt number has yet to be given, the Liverpool Echo suggests that Keita will inherit Gerrard's iconic eight top.
Keita wore the same number at Leipzig, where he has spent the last two years, and it is claimed that he requested it at Liverpool.
The jersey has been vacant since Gerrard left the club in the summer of 2015.
