Liverpool target 12 contenders for managerial job?

Liverpool are reportedly expected to interview 12 candidates for the managerial vacancy at Anfield.

Liverpool have reportedly shortlisted 12 candidates for the managerial vacancy, with an idea to interview them all before making the decision on Kenny Dalglish's successor.

The search for a new boss got underway at Anfield following the sacking of the Scottish coach on Wednesday.

Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez was given permission to speak to the Reds yesterday, while Swansea City boss Brendan Rodgers has reportedly rejected the chance to have talks with the Merseyside outfit.

Despite Martinez being the favourite to nab the position, it is understood that Liverpool will interview up to 12 candidates that they have shortlisted to become the club's new boss, according to Sky Sports News.

Andre Villas-Boas, Rafael Benitez, Didier Deschamps and Pep Guardiola have been touted as potential targets for the Reds.
