Gary McAllister 'considering new coaching position at Liverpool'

Gary McAllister is reportedly considering taking on a different coaching role at Liverpool after being axed from first-team duties.

Gary McAllister is reportedly considering taking a new coaching position at Liverpool after being relieved of his job among the first team.

The 50-year-old was installed as part of Brendan Rodgers's backroom team a few months ago, but it is believed that the club are shuffling personnel following the Northern Irishman's departure.

Rodgers was sacked three hours after the Reds drew 1-1 with Everton on Sunday.

Liverpool's American owners FSG have moved swiftly and are believed to be on the verge of appointing former Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp, who has reportedly agreed a three-year deal.

As part of that appointment, there is expected to be an overhaul in the backroom team, with McAllister and Sean O'Driscoll making way.

However, according to Sky Sports News, McAllister has been offered a different coaching role within the club and the Scotsman is considering whether or not to accept.

McAllister is believed to have held first-team training at Melwood this morning following Rodgers's dismissal.
