O'Hara: 'Liverpool must be crowned champions'

Jamie O'Hara insists that Liverpool must be crowned Premier League champions as uncertainty continues to surround the season amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O'Hara has insisted that Liverpool must be crowned Premier League champions as the sporting landscape continues to be affected by the coronavirus outbreak.

All Premier League matches have been suspended until April 4 at the earliest due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi among the high-profile names to have tested positive for the virus.

Serious doubts have been cast as to whether the season will be able to continue, but O'Hara believes that Jurgen Klopp's side must be recognised for their achievements nonetheless.

Speaking to talkSPORT, O'Hara said: "It would be the most unfair thing in sport ever if Liverpool aren't crowned champions – they must be crowned champions.

"They are going to have an asterisk next to their name forever, which is going to be a shocker for them if they do not get the season finished.

"But everyone is going to have to make compromises for this situation as the season is not going to play out, it is not going to finish.

"We are not going to play any more football this season. We are not going to be able to fit the games in and we need to get on top of this virus properly and seriously, and it is not going to be, 'lets start playing again in April'."

The Premier League are due to hold an emergency meeting next Thursday in order to discuss an action plan for the remainder of the season.
