Paddy Power condemned for Suarez advert

Bookmakers Paddy Power have been reprimanded by an advertising watchdog because of a newspaper advert that featured Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.

Paddy Power issued an ad in The Sun back in October which depicted Suaraz, who has recently been banned for eight matches for racially abusing Patrice Evra, celebrating a goal.

The ad said: "Money-back if Suarez scores. Liverpool v Man Utd. If Suarez scores we'll refund losing bets."

The Advertising Standards Authority later received a complaint that the ad was socially irresponsible because Suarez was only 24 years old.

ASA rules state that promoting gambling services should feature anybody under the age of 25.

"The ad must not appear again in its current form," said the ASA. "We told Paddy Power not to feature those who were under 25 years of age in their ads for gambling services if they were gambling or playing a significant role."

Suarez started his suspension yesterday evening.
