Alan Pardew enjoying the 'massive high' at Newcastle United

Alan Pardew gets back to enjoying the highs of life at Newcastle United after their Liverpool win.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has said that he is enjoying the current high on Tyneside after the Magpies beat Liverpool at St James' Park to make it four wins in a row.

Pardew had been under pressure after his side made a poor start to the season, but looks to have turned things around after wins against Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Brendan Rodgers's struggling Liverpool.

"This is Newcastle and you have to take note that there are real highs," the Londoner is quoted as saying by the Daily Star.

"I think Bobby Robson said the highs are massive here and the lows are equally as low. He needed a tin hat at times, I need a tin hat at times but when the good times come this is as good a city to be in as any.

"Losing Obertan was real blow because he has been outstanding. It looks like he's got a bad injury so we're all really disappointed for him."

Gabriel Obertan was stretchered off just before the half-hour mark with what looked like a serious thigh injury for the French winger.
