Claudio Ranieri: 'Liverpool played well and deserved to win'

Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri accepts that Liverpool deserved to win after the Foxes succumbed to a 4-1 defeat away at Anfield in the Premier League.

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has conceded that Liverpool deserved their victory after the current Premier League champions fell to a humbling 4-1 defeat away to Jurgen Klopp's charges.

The Foxes could do little to prevent a dominant Liverpool side from running riot inside a new-look Anfield, as goals from Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Adam Lallana rounded off an emphatic win for the Merseyside club.

"Liverpool played well and deserved to win. We started well, but after the first goal we lost our shape a little," Ranieri said after the game, according to BBC Sport.

"We tried in the second half, but everything Liverpool tried came good. We created chances, but were a little unlucky.

"We have to clear our minds for the next match. When we have lost in the past, we have always had a good reaction."

Leicester have won just one of their opening four games so far this term.
