Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Steven Gerrard is on course for an early return from injury.
The 33-year-old has missed the last three weeks after pulling his hamstring in last month's 4-1 win over West Ham United, and it was feared that he would be sidelined for another three weeks to come.
However, Rodgers said that his captain may be back in full training ahead of next week's FA Cup third-round tie at home to Oldham Athletic.
"Steven is working very well with the staff, he's already back running and kicking a ball," the Liverpool Echo quotes the Northern Irishman as saying.
"Hopefully in the next week to 10 days we'll have him back training with us fully."
The Reds travel to Stoke City on January 12.
