Brendan Rodgers: 'We can't afford to be complacent'

Brendan Rodgers insists that Liverpool will not become complacent as he looks to add to their squad this summer.

Brendan Rodgers has insisted that Liverpool can't afford to be complacent after their surprise Premier League title bid fell short this season.

Despite leading his current squad to second in the table behind champions Manchester City, Rodgers believes that it is more important than ever for the club to press on with their plans in the transfer market.

"There is certainly no complacency," the Liverpool boss told members of the media.

"You can't take your eye off the ball and this is an ever-evolving league which gets better every season. We need to draw on the positives of this season, of which there are many, and we need to add players who can improve us as that is key.

"You have to retain your hunger so you bring in players with that profile as well as the tactical and technical intelligence. We had a three-hour recruitment meeting last week and as much as we have had a good season we want to go one better next year."

Liverpool are believed to have already made an approach for Southampton's Adam Lallana.
