Jay Spearing vows Manchester City revenge

Jay Spearing says that Liverpool will be better against Manchester City for their Carling Cup semi-final.

Jay Spearing has promised that Liverpool will be better in their upcoming Carling Cup semi-final against Manchester City.

The Reds were beaten 3-0 by the Premier League leaders at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night.

Despite the defeat, Spearing has vowed that the team will give their opponents more of a contest for the first leg in Manchester on Wednesday, January 11.

"We know we have to do better when we come back here next week in the Carling Cup and we will be better," he told the club's official website.

"We will get at them right from the off and I still feel like we can cause them a lot of problems.

"They are going to be two massive games and I don't see any reason why we can't make the final."

Liverpool are currently sixth in the Premier League table.
