WAG of: Steven Gerrard, Liverpool and England midfielder
WAG since: 2002

Not for the first time in his career, Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard stole the headlines yesterday evening by scoring three goals against his side's bitterest rivals Everton.

However, while Gerrard is currently hogging the back pages of the newspapers, his marriage with Alex Curran has often seen him scribed about on the front pages or the celebrity gossip columns.

Having been together since 2002, Curran is viewed as a leading WAG, along with the likes of Victoria Beckham and Coleen Rooney.

Prior to her relationship with Liverpool's skipper, Curran was dating businessman Tony Richardson, while Gerrard was reportedly seeing actress Jennifer Ellison.

Soon after Gerrard and Curran were declared an item, in true WAG drama, Ellison entered into a relationship with Richardson as Gerrard made a tactical switch away from the playing field!

Like the typical WAG, Curran has been involved in a number of controversies, including an arrest for assault (the charges were eventually dropped) and a public spat with singer Jamelia.

Today, and now a mother of three, she has exited the limelight to a certain extent as she concentrates on her fashion and modelling career.

Gerrard has gone on record in previous interviews to say that his marriage has provided him with the perfect foundation for his headline-grabbing career.

Liverpool fans will be hoping that it continues to inspire similar performances to that of last night for a while yet!
