Raheem Sterling eyes regular starting spot at Liverpool

Sterling wants regular Liverpool spot

Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling has insisted that his personal target for next season is to cement a place in Brendan Rodgers's starting lineup.

The 18-year-old impressed in the early stages of the 2012-13 campaign, but began to dwindle down the ranks during the final few months of the season.

"For me at Liverpool, 100% it's about cementing a starting place in the team, getting a good run of games and hopefully getting some goals for the club, and obviously assists as well," Sterling told the club's official website. "If I do that, then hopefully I'll get a pick for the England squad."

Sterling won his first senior cap for England during a friendly defeat against Sweden in November.
