Phil Thompson: 'Liverpool are being disrespected'

Liverpool legend claims that Liverpool are being unfairly overlooked as potential Premier League winners.

Phil Thompson believes that Liverpool are being unjustifiably overlooked as potential Premier League winners.

The table-topping Reds visit Manchester City this evening, and the former defender thinks that his old club should be taken seriously as contenders.

"It is disrespectful to [Liverpool] really," Thompson told Sky Sports News.

"The way they are playing they have a chance. These two games (against City and Chelsea) are big but they're not changing the dynamic of the table because it is so close at the top.

"After Chelsea, seven of the top eight have to come to Anfield, they only have to go to Manchester United, so they have a chance."

Meanwhile, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has said that he is looking to bring an end to City's 100% home record.
