Kolo Toure: 'Emre Can is a midfielder'

Liverpool defender Kolo Toure says that he expects Emre Can to be moved into midfield next season.

Liverpool defender Kolo Toure believes that Emre Can will eventually move into his favoured position of central midfield.

The German was initially brought to the club as a midfielder, but has impressed in a three-man defence since the turn of the year.

However, Toure expects his teammate to be moved further forward next season, and the Ivorian has been impressed with the 21-year-old's ability on the ball.

He told the club's official website: "Emre is a midfielder first of all. Technically, he's really powerful. When we play three at the back, technically, he's very good and very strong and he has quality to play at the back because he has those skills.

"Tactically, he's very good - he's from Germany, so there's no surprise about that. Technically he's very good as well. He just needs time to adapt to this position."

Liverpool host Blackburn Rovers in the quarter-final of the FA Cup on Sunday.
