Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has weighed into the ongoing row between teammate Dejan Lovren and Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos.
Ramos drew the ire of Liverpool fans after injuring Mohamed Salah during last season's Champions League final, and he has since been involved in a feud with Salah's close friend and teammate Lovren.
Lovren boasted that he "elbowed him good" during the recent Nations League clash between Croatia and Spain, and Van Dijk has now had his say on Ramos, claiming that his Real Madrid teammate Raphael Varane is the better of the two centre-backs.
"He is a great player and I respect what he has achieved but he is not the best, he is not my type of central defender," Van Dijk told De Telegraaf.
"Ramos's teammate at Real Madrid, Raphael Varane is my favourite. He is an excellent defender and has already won a lot."
Croatia manager Zlatko Dalic has confirmed that he will speak to Lovren regarding his comments.
