Liverpool come from behind to beat West Ham

Liverpool score twice in three second half minutes to come from 2-1 down and beat West Ham 3-2 in a match that included two own goals.

Liverpool scored two goals in three second-half minutes to record a 3-2 win over West Ham United in the Premier League this afternoon.

The hosts came close after just seven minutes when Mohamed Diame's shot from the edge of the box deflected off Carlton Cole and just past the post.

Glen Johnson gave his side the lead against his former club just four minutes later. The England international cut inside after being found by Steven Gerrard before unleashing a fine strike past Jaaskelainen.

The Hammers hit back before half time, however, as Guy Demel's long range strike hit Joe Allen on the arm inside the penalty area. Mark Noble stepped up and made no mistake with the spot kick.

West Ham completed the first-half comeback right on the stroke of the interval when Matt Jarvis's cross was inadvertently nodded into his own net by Gerrard.

Liverpool almost got an equaliser with just over 20 minutes on the clock as Joe Cole left Stewart Downing's pull back for Raheem Sterling, whose effort deflected off George McCartney, forcing Jaaskelainen into the save.

The Reds squandered another good chance to draw level two minutes later as Downing's cross found Jonjo Shelvey at the near post, but the makeshift forward couldn't direct his header on target.

The visitors did eventually get an equaliser with 15 minutes left as Shelvey and Sterling linked up before the latter threaded a ball through to Cole, who slotted home against his old club.

Liverpool completed a their own comeback just minutes later when Jordan Henderson's low ball in was deflected over Jaaskelainen's head by James Collins.

The Reds could have secured the win in the 88th minute as Sterling raced through on goal, but Jaaskelainen was out quickly to deny the youngster with a fine sliding tackle.

The result sees Liverpool move up to 10th in the Premier League, leapfrogging West Ham, who now sit 11th.
