Barcelona and Real Madrid are reportedly considering RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner as an alternative option should they miss out on their top targets.
The La Liga giants have both been tipped to splash out on new attackers ahead of next season.
Barca are rumoured to be interested in signing Lautaro Martinez and Neymar, while Madrid are keen on Martinez and Kylian Mbappe.
Agreeing deals for any of those players is looking increasingly unlikely in wake of the coronavirus pandemic, though, with teams having to be more sensible with their finances.
According to Goal, that could see Barcelona and Madrid turn to Werner, who has a £50m release clause in his Leipzig contract.
Liverpool are considered to be at the front of the queue for Werner, however, after the 24-year-old admitted to being a big fan of Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.
