Jamie Carragher has suggested that former club Liverpool will spend big over the coming weeks in order to breathe fresh life into the squad.
The Reds, who finished a disappointing sixth in the Premier League last season, have already moved to bring in James Milner and Adam Bogdan on free contracts.
On top of that, deals for Burnley striker Danny Ings and young talent Joe Gomez have also been agreed, but Carragher anticipates further movement before the new campaign gets underway.
"I expect Liverpool will spend a few quid in the next few weeks before the start of the season," he told talkSPORT. "It was good to get the free transfers over the line quickly, they were probably set in stone a few months ago.
"Now it's about seeing who is available at a bigger price, although when you're paying big money it seems to take a lot longer, maybe they'll have to haggle over a fee."
Liverpool begin their 2014-15 campaign away at Stoke City on August 8.
