Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has admitted that he is 'living his dream' amid rumours of a potential move to Real Madrid.

Alexander-Arnold's future continues to be the subject of much speculation, with his current contract set to expire at the end of the season.

As it stands, the England international will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club in January.

Spanish giants Real Madrid have emerged as the favourites to sign Alexander-Arnold if he decides against signing a new Liverpool. deal.

The European champions have reportedly informed Liverpool of their desire to sign Alexander-Arnold when his contract expires next summer.

Alexander-Arnold makes Liverpool dream admission

While there is uncertainty surrounding his Liverpool future, Alexander-Arnold has admitted that he is 'living his dream' at Anfield, offering a potential hint that he is open to staying with the club.

"I never thought I'd play this many games," Alexander-Arnold told Liverpool's website for the 'Backyard Dreams' series.

"I never thought I'd win as many trophies or achieve the things that I've done. I'm living my dream every single day and I have done from the minute I started kicking a ball until now, to be honest."

The Liverpool academy product has made 325 competitive appearances for the senior side, contributing to their attacking efforts with 19 goals and 83 assists.

Alexander-Arnold has won eight trophies with his boyhood club, including the 2018-19 Champions League and the 2019-20 Premier League title.

Alexander-Arnold opens up on Liverpool idols

The 26-year-old also admitted that he looked up to a number of Liverpool stars growing up, revealing that his biggest idol was club legend Steven Gerrard.

"Obviously I didn't see it as practising or trying to get better," Alexander-Arnold said. "I just saw it as playing a game with my brothers. But, you put the hours in, you get better.

"I was Gerrard, for sure, there was no-one else for me. I loved [Fernando] Torres, Luis Garcia, [Luis] Suarez, but Gerrard was the one for me.

"It was 'Gerrard!' when you whacked [the ball], that was the thing. When you were about to hit it you'd scream 'Gerrard!' He's the only player that I know who has ever had that. No-one screams any other player's name. [But] if it drops to you on the volley, you're screaming 'Gerrard!'"

Alexander-Arnold has not featured in Liverpool's last two matches, giving him time to recover from an injury issue that he picked up against Aston Villa before the international break.

The right-back is expected to return to the starting lineup for Sunday's top-of-the-table clash against Manchester City at Anfield.
