Liverpool and Leicester City reportedly identify West Bromwich Albion loanee Ahmed Hegazi as a potential transfer target.

West Bromwich Albion centre-back Ahmed Hegazi is reportedly attracting interest from Liverpool and Leicester City.

Al Ahly defender Hegazi is currently spending a season on loan at The Hawthorns, and the 26-year-old has impressed during his first four months in the West Midlands.

However, according to ESPN, Hegazi's form has led to both Liverpool and Leicester identifying the Egyptian international as a potential transfer target, either in January or at the end of the season.

Liverpool continue to have issues in defence with 18 goals being conceded from 13 top-flight games this season, while Leicester may soon need extra options at centre-back with Wes Morgan turning 34 in January and Aleksandar Dragovic having not featured in the Premier League since signing on loan in August.

However, the Baggies have an option to sign Hegazi on a permanent deal for just €5m (£4.42m), which new boss Alan Pardew could do after agreeing a two-and-a-half-year deal to replace Tony Pulis.
