Liverpool are not intending to make a move for RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner before his release clause is set to expire, according to a report.

Werner has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield following an impressive Bundesliga campaign, registering 21 goals from 25 outings in Germany's top flight.

Recent reports have suggested that the Germany international has already agreed a move to Merseyside, but according to Sky Sports News, the Reds will not move for the striker before his release clause runs out.

The report states that Werner's £52m clause will expire in June, and the player is ready to join Jurgen Klopp's side should Liverpool swoop for him.

The 24-year-old's current deal with Leipzig will run until the end of the 2022-23 season, and Bayern Munich supposedly remain interested in signing the forward.
