Liverpool have reportedly rejected Roma's latest bid for centre-back Dejan Lovren.
With the Croatia international only regarded as fourth choice by manager Jurgen Klopp, Roma have been trying to tempt the Champions League winners into parting ways with the defender.
Klopp has done little to play down speculation regarding a potential departure for the 30-year-old, suggesting that talks have been held regarding the player's lack of game time.
However, with just days remaining of the transfer window, Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Liverpool have turned down another loan offer from Roma.
That stance has seemingly led to the Serie A club launching an approach for Manchester United's Chris Smalling, who is now expected to make the switch to Stadio Olimpico.
