Lorenzo Insigne hopes to sign a new deal with Napoli "soon", denting Liverpool's hopes of signing the Italian forward.

Rumoured Liverpool target Lorenzo Insigne has ruled out a move away from Napoli and is hopeful of extending his contract with the Italian club.

The Reds were rumoured to be leading the race to sign the 27-year-old, who progressed through Napoli's youth system and has made more than 300 appearances for them.

Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan have also been credited with an interest in Insigne, but the Italy international is ready to commit his future to the Partenopei.

"A contract renewal? I'm waiting for the president," Insigne told Sky Sport Italia. "For my part there's maximum availability. We both want to move forward together. I hope that the signing of the contract will come soon.

"It was important to be clear about going ahead together. There has been misunderstanding but now there is the desire to continue united."

Insigne's current deal at the Stadio San Paolo runs through until the summer of 2022.
