A report claims that Liverpool want to sign Marseille youngster Maxime Lopez, who has broken into the French side's first team this season.

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Marseille youngster Maxime Lopez.

The 18-year-old, who has made six appearances for Marseille's first team this season, has been branded 'the new Samir Nasri' by sections of the French media.

Arsenal have previously been credited with an interest in the attacking midfielder, but according to Le Parisien, it is Liverpool that currently lead the race ahead of the January transfer window.

Lopez came through the youth system at Marseille before making his first-team debut in 2016. This season, he has appeared five times in Ligue 1.
