Liverpool are reportedly contemplating whether to make a fresh approach for Rennes winger Jeremy Doku during one of the next two transfer windows.

Liverpool have reportedly retained an interest in signing Rennes winger Jeremy Doku during one of the upcoming transfer windows.

There was upheaval in the final third over the summer as Jurgen Klopp witnessed the likes of Sadio Mane, Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino all depart Anfield.

In their place came Fabio Carvalho and Darwin Nunez, while a long-term contract was agreed with Mohamed Salah, and it was perceived that Klopp's options in that area of the pitch had not been significantly weakened.

Despite their struggles in the Premier League, that belief still rings true with Liverpool having 20 goals to their name, albeit with nine of those coming in one fixture against Bournemouth.

While there is currently doubt over the long-term future of Roberto Firmino, Klopp can claim to be well stocked for options going forward at the present time.

Nevertheless, according to Calciomercatio, there remains a long-standing interest in eventually acquiring the services of Doku.

Liverpool have reportedly been keen to sign the Belgium international in the past, only to see the wideman spend the last two years at Rennes.

Since moving to Roazhon Park in October 2020, the 20-year-old has made a total of 39 starts and 23 substitute appearances in all competitions.

Despite receiving regular game time, just four goals and six assists have been recorded, far below expectations given his €26m price tag.

Doku has also made just one start and five substitute appearances in Ligue 1 during 2022-23, putting Rennes in a situation where they may have concerns over his valuation in the future.

Although Doku possesses a contract until 2025, the report indicates that Rennes will still receive widespread interest in the playmaker's signature in 2023.

Liverpool are said to have 'never stopped thinking about him', while the likes of Napoli and Juventus are allegedly monitoring the situation.

Doku is in contention to represent Belgium at the upcoming World Cup and his inclusion may lead to further interest in his signature.

However, the last of his 10 appearances for the Red Devils came at Euro 2020, making him no more than an outsider to be selected by Roberto Martinez.
