Liverpool could reportedly launch a bid to sign Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo if the Bees fail to retain their top-flight status.

Liverpool could reportedly launch a bid to sign Bryan Mbeumo if Brentford are relegated this season.

The Reds are seemingly scouring the market for potential attacking reinforcements, with uncertainty surrounding the future of Mohamed Salah.

Salah has less than 18 months left to run on his current deal, and he continues to be linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League.

Liverpool rejected Al Ittihad's £150m bid for Salah in the closing stages of the most recent summer transfer window.

Although Salah ultimately stayed put on Merseyside, there is a possibility that there could be further interest from Saudi Arabian clubs at the end of the season.

With the Egyptian's current deal set to expire in June 2025, the upcoming transfer window could represent one final chance to obtain a significant fee for his signature.

While Salah could still be persuaded to extend his stay at Anfield, Liverpool are believed to be looking at potential replacements in case the 31-year-old decides to leave this summer.

A recent report suggested that Barcelona duo Ansu Fati and Raphinha were among those being considered by the Premier League leaders.

According to The Express, Liverpool could decide to move for Mbeumo depending on the outcome of Brentford's battle to remain in the division.

The Bees are likely to lose Ivan Toney this summer, and Mbeumo could follow him out of the door if Thomas Frank's side drop down to the second tier.

The report suggests that the Cameroon international may be available at a cut-price fee if Brentford's three-year stay in the Premier League comes to an end.

Any potential move for Mbuemo may have to get the seal of approval from the new manager, with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp set to leave his role at the end of the season.

Mbeumo registered nine goals and eight assists in 38 Premier League appearances last term to help the Bees achieve a top-half finish.

The 24-year-old went on to score seven goals and provide four assists in 15 league matches during the first half of the current campaign before sustaining an ankle injury in December.

Brentford are currently sitting in 16th place in the league table with five points separating them from the bottom three.
