Liverpool are reportedly set to allow three players to leave the club at the end of the current season.

Liverpool are reportedly prepared to allow Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara and Adrian to leave this summer.

The Reds are preparing for a new era at Anfield, with manager Jurgen Klopp set to depart at the end of the season after spending nine years in the Liverpool dugout.

As well as experiencing a change of manager, Liverpool will also have a new sporting director in place following Jorg Schmadtke's departure earlier this year.

Liverpool recently confirmed that Richard Hughes will officially begin work as the club's sporting director at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

Bournemouth's former technical director has been appointed by Michael Edwards, who is back working with the club in his new position as Fenway Sports Group's CEO of Football.

According to Football Insider, Hughes has already decided to let three players leave the club as free agents at the end of the season.

The report claims that Matip, Thiago and Adrian will all be allowed to depart when their respective contracts expire on June 30.

Matip made 14 competitive appearances this term before sustaining a season-ending knee injury in a 4-3 win over Fulham in December.

The former Cameroon international has featured in 201 matches since joining Liverpool in the summer of 2016, but it now appears that he has already played his last game for the club.

Thiago is also in the treatment room and it is currently unclear whether he will return to action before the conclusion of the campaign.

The 32-year-old recovered from a long-term hip injury to feature in last month's Premier League meeting with Arsenal, but he suffered a fresh injury setback on his return to action.

The Spaniard's recurring injury issues have seemingly played a role in Liverpool's decision to allow his contract to run to its conclusion.

Meanwhile, Adrian has ultimately been deemed surplus to requirements, having just two appearances since the 2020-21 season.

In fact, the Spaniard is yet to feature during the current campaign, with Klopp preferring to utilise Caoimhin Kelleher as a backup option to Alisson Becker.
