Nat Phillips admits he could leave Liverpool before the transfer window closes after featuring in only one of Liverpool's four league games.

Liverpool defender Nat Phillips has claimed that he could leave the club before the transfer window closes.

The 25-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Bournemouth, where he made 18 appearances, helping the Cherries win promotion to the Premier League.

Although he was linked with another loan or permanent transfer to Bournemouth, Phillips has begun the season with Jurgen Klopp's side, starting the 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace on matchday two of the Premier League.

Whilst commenting on his surprise appearance, the centre-back has also admitted that his future at Liverpool remains uncertain.

As quoted by the Liverpool Echo, Phillips said: "It's a prime example of how you've always got to be ready because you never know what's round the corner.

"Ultimately I want to be playing games but you've got to take it week-by-week. You can never look too far into the future because you never know what might happen.

"But, of course, I love playing for Liverpool and it was nice to have the opportunity to do that against Crystal Palace at Anfield the other week."

Phillips went on to discuss his time on loan with Bournemouth last season, adding: "I had a really good time down there and it was good working with Scott Parker.

"He is a good manager to work for. He is very well-planned and meticulous in the way he approaches games. He was always analysing the fine details and knew what he wanted from you as a player and as a team.

"Personally, the experience was great. It was nice to be playing regularly and experiencing a promotion as well was something special."

Following his appearance against Palace, Phillips has been an unused substitute for Liverpool's last two matches, including the 9-0 win over his former club Bournemouth on Saturday.
